The Scenic Hudson Land Trust Board Secretary

Ru was a correspondent and bureau chief for TIME magazine, serving in Europe, Asia, and South America, as well as in the United States. He later held a number of management and publishing positions at Time Inc., before becoming managing editor of Constitution, a quarterly launched in connection with the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution. In 1994, he was named Managing Director of the Metropolitan Opera Guild and Publisher of its monthly magazine, Opera News. In 1998, Ru became Editor of Opera News, a position he held, along with those of Publisher and Managing Director of the Guild, until 2003. A graduate of Princeton, with a degree, magna cum laude, in English literature, Ru began his career at Radio Free Europe in Munich, Germany. He was the Edward R. Murrow Fellow at the Council of Foreign Relations in 1980, and he remains a Council member. He is a director and secretary of the Hudson Highlands Land Trust. Ru and his wife, Sheila, reside in Cold Spring and New York City.
